The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) activated its Deployable Response Groups (DRG) in anticipation of the effects of Tropical Storm Ramil in the Bicol region.
In a message to reporters on Sunday, the PCG stated that the initiative is part of its proactive disaster preparedness efforts, including rescue operations, relief assistance, and disaster mitigation efforts.
DRGs are on standby with necessary rescue equipment, land vehicles, and water assets prepositioned and ready for immediate deployment once needed.
By mobilizing resources ahead of time, the Coast Guard District Bicol (CGDBCL) said it aims to lessen potential damage, safeguard lives, and deliver timely aid to those in vulnerable areas.
The agency also advised the public to remain vigilant, monitor official weather updates, and follow all safety advisories from local authorities and disaster response agencies.
