The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on late Saturday morning reported that Tropical Storm “Ramil” (international name: Fengshen) had slightly intensified as it neared the waters off Northern Samar.
According to its 11 a.m. tropical cyclone bulletin, Ramil was last estimated over the coastal waters of Palapag, Northern Samar.
Moving west-southwestward at 20 kilometers per hour (kph), the tropical storm had maximum sustained winds of 75 kph and gusts of up to 90 kph.
Following a brief west-southwestward movement, Ramil is forecast to move generally west-northwestward or northwestward. Its center may make landfall or pass close to Northern Samar this noon or early afternoon, then over Catanduanes this afternoon or evening.
