The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) on Saturday evening recorded a magnitude 5.5 earthquake 79 kilometers southeast off the coast of Manay, Davao Oriental.
The state seismology bureau said the earthquake took place at around 6:27 p.m.

It was tectonic in origin and had a depth of 11 kilometers.
Intensity IV (moderately strong) was felt in Manay.
Meanwhile, Phivolcs did not forecast aftershocks but expects damage from the earthquake.
