The Bureau of Immigration (BI) on Saturday confirmed that former Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) general manager Royina Garma has returned to the Philippines.
Garma arrived at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 1 at 6:50 p.m. through Philippine Airlines (PAL) flight PR 113 from Los Angeles, California.
The retired police colonel previously left the Philippines after attending several House Quad Committee hearings into the Duterte administration’s drug war, where she confirmed implementing the “Davao model” that rewarded killings.
She was arrested and detained in San Francisco, California, last Nov. 7, 2024, because of her canceled US visa.
Following Garma’s arrest, Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla said there was no timetable for her return to the Philippines, but it would invoke the Mutual Legal Assistance Treaty (MLAT) between the country and the United States in seeking for her extradition.
