Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation and Unity Carlito Galvez, Jr., on Monday urged Filipinos to embrace solidarity and strengthen efforts toward lasting peace as the country marks this year’s National Peace Consciousness Month.
In his message, Galvez highlighted that September has served as a reminder of unity and reconciliation since the issuance of Presidential Proclamation No. 675, which declared it as Peace Month 21 years ago.
Carrying the theme “Mapayapang Bukas, Abot-Kamay sa Bagong Pilipinas,” this year’s observance underscores both the progress made in the Philippine peace process and the continuing call for collective action to sustain it.
“Building on and sustaining the gains of the comprehensive Philippine peace process is not the work of the government alone. It is a shared responsibility that requires all sectors of society to work hand-in-hand to realize our common vision,” Galvez said, stressing that every Filipino has a role in advancing peace and mutual understanding.
He also invited the public to join a series of activities organized by the Office of the Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation and Unity (OPAPRU) in partnership with various stakeholders throughout the month-long celebration.
Galvez expressed hope that the observance would inspire citizens to reflect on the meaning of peace and live out its values beyond the annual commemoration.
“May this month of September fill our hearts and minds with peace, love, and compassion,” he said.
