An outbound parcel containing around 500 grams of suspected shabu was seized by authorities at the NAIA Complex on Monday afternoon, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) reported.
In a statement on Tuesday, PDEA said the parcel was declared as “Books/Picture Frame,” and was shipped by a certain individual from Cavite and consigned to a recipient in Auckland, New Zealand.
Upon inspection, operatives discovered a blue book safe that contained a knot-tied transparent plastic bag wrapped in duct tape, carbon paper and aluminum foil, concealing approximately 500 grams of the illegal substance.
Also found inside the parcel were three assorted books, three picture frames, a flower bouquet and one board game, apparently placed to conceal the narcotics.
While no one was arrested, PDEA said the contraband’s interdiction has triggered a deeper investigation into the identities of the senders and intended recipients of the parcels.
All seized drug evidence has been turned over to the PDEA Laboratory Service for confirmatory examination, the agency disclosed.
