PNP: No promotions, no transfers for corrupt cops

The Philippine National Police (PNP) has reiterated that police officers found guilty of corruption will not be reinstated, promoted, or transferred to new assignments.

“When a police officer is found to be involved in any kind of corruption, they cannot return to their previous unit,” said PNP chief Gen. Rommel Francisco Marbil. Instead, erring officers will be placed in the PNP’s Personnel Holding and Accounting Unit until their retirement.

Marbil emphasized, “The PNP is not a rehabilitation center,” underscoring that corrupt personnel will not be given opportunities to move within the organization.

This policy forms part of the PNP’s intensified internal cleansing efforts aimed at restoring public trust.

To lead these reforms, Marbil designated PNP Deputy Chief for Administration Lt. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. as the point person for internal restructuring.
