Senate President Francis ‘Chiz’ Escudero on Monday expressed full support for President Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos Jr.’s call to set aside political differences and focus on addressing the needs of the Filipino people.
“He (President Marcos) is right. Our country’s leaders cannot afford to be consumed by politics when so many of our kababayan (fellow Filipinos) struggle simply to make ends meet,” Escudero said in a statement.
The Senate President praised the President’s “humility” in acknowledging that the outcome of the recent midterm elections reflected the public’s growing weariness with political conflict. Escudero noted that Filipinos seek a government that delivers results, not one distracted by partisan drama.
“In admitting that he (Marcos) is open to reconciling with the Vice President and the Duterte family, he reminds us that the welfare of the Filipino people should always take precedence over personal differences and partisan disputes,” Escudero said.
The seasoned legislator echoed President Marcos’ message of unity, saying, “now is the time to build bridges, not burn them. We owe it to our people to rise above division and do better—together—for the sake of our nation.”
