THE Supreme Court announced on Tuesday the schedule of public interviews to be conducted by the Judicial and Bar Council (JBC) in search of a replacement for Associate Justice Mario Lopez who is set to retire early next month.
Lopez, chairman of last year’s Bar examination, will be retiring on June 4, 2025.
The interview is pursuant to Sec. 2, Rule 7 of the 2020-01 Revised Rules of the JBC.
It is set to take place on May 14, 15, 16, and 21 with morning and afternoon sessions.
The first batch of interviewees include Court of Appeals Associate Justices Nina Antonio-Valenzuela, Ramon Bato, Carlito Calpatura, as well as lawyers Darlene Marie Berberabe and Maria Rosario De Leon Bernardo.
A total of 17 applicants are vying for the position to be vacated by Lopez’s retirement.
