Malabon City Mayor Jeannie Sandoval received a fresh three-year term as local chief executive with her running mate Edward Nolasco after they were proclaimed winners by the Commission on Elections (Comelec) early Tuesday morning, May 13.
Sandoval won convincingly with 92,621 votes against her challenger, incumbent Rep. Jaye Lacson-Noel, who received 50,409 votes. Nolasco also emerged triumphant, gaining 56,515 votes against three opponents led by actress-politician Angelika Dela Cruz, who secured 42,207 votes.
“This victory is not mine alone, but for all Malabueños who dreamed of a better tomorrow. Today is the result of our unity, prayers, and cooperation,” Sandoval said, acknowledging their victory in a Facebook post.
“Thank you very much for your trust and support. You are the true heroes. Now, let us unite for the betterment of our beloved Malabon,” she added.
Sandoval said she plans to continue her public service programs, including the Malabon Ahon blue card, which provides financial assistance and social benefits for her constituents.
In the congressional race, former mayor Antolin ‘Lenlen’ Oreta III defeated three other candidates to represent the lone district of Malabon City. He received 64,906 votes to resume his political career this time in the legislative branch of local government.
Oreta’s brother, Enzo, also topped the list of councilors for the second district with 38,543 votes. Their cousin Paulo—youngest son of the late former Malabon City mayor Canuto ‘Tito’ Oreta—also won 35,378 votes, likely securing a council seat for the first district.
