Senatorial candidates Bam Aquino, Francis ‘Kiko’ Pangilinan as well as those running under the Makabayan coalition cast their votes in their respective polling precincts on Election Day.
Aquino, who is running under the Katipunan ng Nagkakaisang Pilipino (KANP) party, went to his precinct at the Concepcion South Elementary School in Tarlac.
Like other voters, he encountered some issue as he had to insert his ballot in the automated counting machine four times before he was able to have his receipt printed successfully.
Speaking to reporters, Aquino said he was optimistic on the outcome of the elections, adding he will be monitoring the results at his home.
Pangilinan from the Liberal Party also voted at his precinct at the Inchican Elementary School in Silang, Cavite.
In an interview, the former senator seeking a fresh mandate said he is hopeful about his chances of winning a seat despite the tight race in the so-called ‘Magic 12.’
“In the previous elections, there were winning candidates who ranked lower in (pre-election) surveys. Let’s all stay calm,” Pangilinan said.
Meanwhile, Makabayan candidates Teddy Casiño, Liza Maza, Danilo Ramos, Ronnel Arambulo, and Arlyn Andamo also voted today in their respective polling centers.
