VP Sara warns against electing candidates from political clans, vote buyers

Ahead of the 2025 midterm elections, Vice President Sara Duterte warned voters against electing candidates from political clans, those involved in vote buying, and those who fail to uphold their promises.

“What I am doing is reminding our citizens of our wrong manner of choosing our leaders,” Duterte said in Filipino during an ambush interview in Quiapo, Manila, on Friday night.

“First of all, those who come from large political families. Second, those who we give our character for money and vote buying. And third, those whom we do not question because we only remember how they made us happy, laugh, dance, and sing during the campaign, that’s all we remember,” she added.

The Vice President emphasized the importance of examining candidates’ intentions, promises, and platforms, especially in light of past campaign pledges that have not materialized.

“We should change our behavior when it comes to voting so we can see new leaders and change in our country,” Duterte said.

She also shared her list of candidates and groups she believes the public should not support. These include party lists Tingog and Ako Bicol, as well as those under the Makabayan bloc.
