The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) will carry out 24-hour road repair operations in at least 30 locations across Metro Manila from April 16 to 21 to ease traffic flow and reduce congestion, especially during the Holy Week holiday period.
According to an advisory, the roadworks will begin at 11 p.m. on April 16 (Holy Wednesday) and continue until 5 a.m. on April 21 (Monday).
The DPWH aims to enhance travel safety and efficiency for both residents and visitors during this peak travel time.
DPWH–National Capital Region Director Loleta Malaluan said the repair activities will cover roads in Quezon City, Malabon, Caloocan, Makati, and Pasig.
These include sidewalk restoration, canal declogging, and flyover retrofitting.
As part of the agency’s maintenance program, expansion joints on major flyovers along EDSA will be replaced, including those on the Magallanes Flyover (northbound), C-5 Ortigas Flyover (southbound), and the Ortigas-C5 Interchange.
Malaluan added that initial rehabilitation work on the Kamuning and Quezon Avenue flyovers has already begun under the 2024 budget.
However, full-scale work will proceed in phases due to delays in fund disbursement. To minimize traffic disruptions, the DPWH is coordinating with the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) on rerouting plans and advising motorists to use alternate routes such as the Mabuhay Lanes.
