ACCIONA, in partnership with D.M. Consunji Inc. (DMCI), has begun permanent works for Contract Package 02 of the South Commuter Railway Project (SCRP).
This segment is part of the 54.6 km North-South Commuter Railway (NSCR), which will connect Clark, Pampanga to Calamba, Laguna, cutting travel time by up to 50%.
ACCIONA Southeast Asia Managing Director Ruben Camba emphasized the project’s transformative potential, describing it as a step toward a modern, efficient, and reliable transport system. The project is expected to generate around 365,000 jobs and serve up to one million passengers daily by 2045.
Camba highlighted the social impact of the railway, saying it will improve daily life by making travel faster, safer, and more accessible.
ACCIONA is incorporating sustainable construction practices and advanced technology to reduce environmental impact. The elevated railway design aims to minimize disruption and mitigate flood risks in nearby communities.
