The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to its mission of safeguarding the nation and its citizens while renewing its call to remain free from “political distractions.”
In an interview on PTV-4’s “Bagong Pilipinas Ngayon,” AFP spokesperson Col. Francel Margareth Padilla emphasized that the military continues to uphold its professionalism as an organization.
“We are laser focused on our mandate of national security, and of course, to provide security for every Filipino citizen, especially now that the midterm elections are coming. We want to concentrate on that, we are going to have a free, peaceful elections,” she said.
Padilla made this comment when asked for a reaction on some groups’ attempt to involve the military in recent political controversies.
She also reminded all AFP personnel that the only time they get to express their opinion on political matters is when they exercise their constitutional right to vote.
