Several local government units (LGUs) in Metro Manila provided free rides to assist passengers affected by the transportation strike organized by the Malayang Alyansa ng Bus Employees at Laborers (Manibela).

Las Piñas Mayor Imelda Aguilar instructed the city’s Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (DRRMO) to deploy two buses, one government truck, and four utility vans. The local government noted that one of the affected areas in the city was Zapote Road.

In Quezon City, additional buses and rescue vehicles were deployed to support passengers traveling to and from Cubao, Litex, IBP Road, Mindanao Avenue, Gilmore Avenue, C-5 Road, Ortigas Avenue, and Munoz.

Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna coordinated with the local DRRMO and the Manila Police District to provide free rides in case any passengers were affected.

Other LGUs maintained close communication with the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) regarding the routes impacted by the strike.

Meanwhile, MMDA Chairman Don Artes said the agency’s free rides are on standby for those affected by the transport strike and they will continue to monitor the situation closely. He added they are implementing a single dispatch system, focusing on deployment in the cities of Manila, Caloocan, Pasig, and Parañaque.

During the ongoing transport strike monitoring at the MMDA Communications and Command Center, protesters were spotted in the following areas: University Avenue, CP Garcia, and Philcoa in Quezon City; Caruncho in Pasig; Alabang Viaduct in Muntinlupa; and Sta. Ana (Lambingan Bridge), JP Rizal Street, and Nagtahan Service Road in Manila.
