The Philippine government is working to strengthen its cooperation with the United Kingdom on strategic communications and efforts to combat misinformation, according to the Presidential Communications Office (PCO).
During a meeting on Friday, PCO Acting Secretary Cesar Chavez welcomed UK Ambassador Laure Beaufils into his office, to discuss the importance of public communication and express interest in adopting British best practices, including the UK’s Grid Framework.
Chavez highlighted ongoing efforts to improve public communication and welcomed the UK’s support in promoting awareness of maritime security and resource protection in the West Philippine Sea (WPS).
Specifically, he noted the relevance of the WPS Campaign Branding initiative, which aims to enhance public understanding of maritime issues and the need to safeguard the country’s resources in contested waters.
The UK’s involvement underscores its continued support for the Philippines in addressing regional challenges, particularly in ensuring transparency and resilience in public discourse.
Beaufils reaffirmed the UK’s commitment to fostering stronger ties and sharing expertise to counter misinformation, a global concern that has far-reaching implications for governance and security.
