The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) on Monday evening logged a 5.5-magnitude earthquake off the coast of Occidental Mindoro.
According to the state seismology bureau, the earthquake was recorded at 6:42 p.m. on Monday.

Tectonic in origin, the earthquake’s epicenter was 23 kilometers northeast of Lubang, Occidental Mindoro.
Intensity IV (moderately strong) was reported in the said municipality. Meanwhile, Intensity III (weak) was reported in Quezon City, Makati, Taguig, Bulacan, Bataan, Rizal, and Laguna.
Phivolcs said aftershocks are expected.
