The Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) has announced the extension of the theatrical run for all official entries until January 14 in select cinemas.
This decision comes in response to requests from movie enthusiasts and the general public.
Lawyer Romando Artes, the chief of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) and the overall chairman of the MMFF, expressed his gratitude for the ongoing support from moviegoers for the festival’s 50th edition.
Originally set to conclude on January 7, the festival will now run for an additional week.
“We are overwhelmed by the continued support of the public for this year’s festival. Due to popular demand, we have decided to extend the theatrical exhibition of MMFF films to further highlight the impressive and artistically excellent locally produced films,” said Artes.
With this extension, MMFF complimentary passes will also be valid until January 14.
Artes added that the MMDA is optimistic about the continued growth of the 2024 MMFF’s earnings. Organized by the MMDA, the MMFF aims to promote and preserve Philippine cinema.
Proceeds from the MMFF benefit various organizations within the film industry, including the Movie Workers Welfare Foundation (Mowelfund), the Film Academy of the Philippines, the Motion Picture Anti-Film Piracy Council, the Optical Media Board, and the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP).
