15 members of the Lawless Terrorist Group (LTG) in Maguindanao del Norte surrendered to the government on Monday morning.
During a program held at the Headquarters of the Brigade Support Area, 1st Brigade Combat Team, Lt. Col. Gilbert Boado, the Commanding Officer, led the presentation of the surrendering individuals to Brig. Gen. Jose Vladimir Cagara, Commander of 1BCT.
The group also handed over their weapons, which included four 40mm RPGs, two Cal. 50 Barrett rifles, one M1 Carbine Cal. 30, one Carbine Cal. 30 Garand, two 7.62mm sniper rifles, one KG9 9mm UZI, eleven IEDs, one 40mm RPG cartridge with propellant, and one rifle grenade cartridge.
Brig. Gen. Cagara expressed his pleasure regarding the decision of the 15 former combatants to embrace peace and development in their community.
“We will continue to push our efforts for peace to achieve the progress of the communities they belong to,” stated Brig. Gen. Cagara.
Maj. Gen. Antonio G. Nafarrete, Commander of 6ID and JTF Central, also expressed gratitude to everyone who worked towards achieving peaceful and prosperous communities free from the threat of armed individuals.
“JTF Central and 6ID recognize the efforts of our external and internal stakeholders for the peace initiative, especially with the upcoming National and Local Elections and the BARMM Parliamentary Election. JTF Central and 6ID assure that we will do everything to maintain peace and progress in the regions under our jurisdiction,” said Maj. Gen. Nafarrete.
