The Philippine Fleet (PF) has appointed a new commanding officer for the Philippine Navy frigate BRP Jose Rizal (FF150).
Commander (Cdr.) Irvin Ian Robles succeeds Capt. Cyrus Mendoza as the chief of FF150, marked by a turnover ceremony presided over by Offshore Combat Force (OCF) Commander, Commo. Raul Regis.
During the same ceremony, the outgoing chief Capt. Mendoza was awarded the Senior Command-at-Sea Plaque, which is equivalent to a Task Force Commander, in recognition of his successful completion of his Sea Tour of Duty. Among the naval vessels he commanded are BRP Conrado Yap (PS39) and BRP Nestor Reinoso (PG380).
In his remarks, Fleet Commander Joe Anthony Orbe praised Capt. Mendoza for his achievements and successful tenure as Commanding Officer of FF150, stating that “these are not ordinary accomplishments—they are groundbreaking.”
Rear Adm. Orbe also expressed his confidence in the newly appointed skipper and urged him to “lead FF150, lead the flagship of the Philippine Navy with vigor, enthusiasm, and dedication.”
In his message, Capt. Mendoza acknowledged and expressed gratitude to the dedicated men and women of FF150 for their “genuine support and dedication during his time as Commanding Officer.”
Meanwhile, Cdr. Robles conveyed his appreciation for the “trust from the Navy Fleet and OCF leadership for allowing him to lead this magnificent warship and its crew.”
