Several war materials were seized by the Army’s 2nd Infantry (Jungle Fighter) Division (2ID) in Bulalacao town, located in the province of Oriental Mindoro.
According to a report from the 203rd Infantry Brigade, troops from the 4th Infantry Battalion were conducting peace and security operations in Sitio Parakasoy.
This operation was initiated in response to a tip provided by local residents, leading them to encounter remnants of the rebels loitering in the area.
During the clash, the troops seized one M16 rifle, a bandoleer containing six fully loaded magazines, a rifle grenade, personal belongings, and subversive documents.
The firefight lasted approximately 15 minutes before the terrorists retreated north, taking their wounded with them.
Major General Cerilo Balaoro Jr., commander of the 2ID, stated that the successful engagements in Southern Tagalog and neighboring provinces are due to the sustained security operations of the troops and the cooperation and vigilance of local residents.
These locals have been providing valuable information regarding terrorist movements and activities.
He further noted that terrorists are attempting to regain influence over people who are already aware of their deceitful acts and lies.
“Because our people are now actively engaged in our security campaigns by contributing significant information on the terrorists’ whereabouts and activities, any attempt by the terrorists to regain influence with the people of Southern Tagalog would fail,” added Maj. Gen. Balaoro.
