65 police officers from the Philippine National Police (PNP) Regional Office XI (Davao police) have been reassigned to various regions in Luzon due to a series of special orders from the Police National Headquarters.
According to Davao Police spokesperson Police Major Catherine Dela Rey, this order is part of the regular assignment and reassignment process within the ranks of the PNP.
“So if you remember, these names are familiar to you; these are the ones under investigation, the ones where police operations took place where someone died, and then those station commanders who had double blotters, as well as other key personnel who were under investigation or have cases,” Dela Rey stated on government TV station PTV Davao.
The affected officers were surprised by this latest directive from the PNP, which took effect on November 25.
Those impacted by this order have been sent to four regions in Luzon: Police Regional Office 2 (Tuguegarao), MIMAROPA (Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan), Police Regional Office 5 (Bicol Region), and the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR).
The special order was signed by Police Major General Edgar Alan Okubo, the PNP Acting Chief of the Directorial Staff.
Dela Rey also mentioned that they are awaiting approval for their request to reassign the officers to the Personal Holding and Accounting Unit located at the PNP National Headquarters in Camp Rafael Crame, Quezon City.
She further explained that the decision from the National Headquarters was made recently, resulting in these officers being assigned to various regions outside of Mindanao instead of being placed at the PNP-PHAU.
The PRO XI also urged the public not to associate this recent reassignment issue with political matters.
These reassignments follow earlier personnel movements in May and July 2024, marking the third significant reshuffle of PRO XI personnel this year.
