Over 3,000 job vacancies are up for grabs for displaced POGO workers in a job fair to be conducted by the Department of Labor and Employment on November 19 to 20 in Pasay City.
Labor Secretary Bienvenido Laguesma said the department is encouraging displaced workers by the closure of Internet Gaming Licensees (formerly known as POGOs) to take advantage of the thousands of vacancies in the second installment of the Project DAPAT Job Fair.
“Close to 3,000 job vacancies will be offered on the next round of DOLE’s jobs fair starting at 9:00 a.m. at the SM Mall of Asia Music Hall, Pasay City,” Laguesma said.
Project DAPAT, or the DOLE Action Plan and Transition Project, is the department’s response to President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s directive to assist displaced workers in finding new jobs following the ban of all POGOs.
Based on the preliminary report of DOLE – National Capital Region, a total of 16 local employers will participate, providing a diverse range of jobs, including sales consultants, cashiers, receptionists, encoders, drivers, delivery helpers, and service crews, among others.
A one-stop shop will be set up to help job seekers with their employment requirements.
Participating agencies include the Department of Trade and Industry, Technical Education and Skills Development Authority, Social Security System, Home Development Mutual Fund (Pag-IBIG), Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth), Bureau of Internal Revenue, National Bureau of Investigation, Philippine National Police, Philippine Statistics Authority, Professional Regulation Commission, and Philippine Postal Corporation.
Applicants are encouraged to have their requirements ready, including their resume or curriculum vitae, diploma, transcript of records, and government clearances.
