Tornado born from “Kristine” hits Boracay 

Three e-trikes in Boracay Island were hit Thursday morning by a tornado believed to have been caused by Severe Tropical Storm “Kristine.”

According to the Malay MDRRMO, the drivers of the e-trikes rushed for safety upon realizing that a tornado was approaching. None of them had passengers.

The e-trikes are a major mode of transport for both tourists and residents on this resort island.

As of this writing, the Malay MDRRMO is still assessing whether there are other damages caused by the tornado.

Meanwhile, Police Captain Redym Daligdig, station chief of the aviation security police at Godofredo Ramos Airport in Caticlan, Malay, Aklan, told Manila Standard that they are on alert following the threat posed by the typhoon.

Aklan Governor Jose Enrique Miraflores, for his part, declared no classes in all schools from October 23 to 24.

The Philippine Coast Guard-Caticlan has also warned fishermen not to venture out to sea because of the typhoon. DOST-PAGASA has placed the province under signal number 1.

The PCG also announced that ships from Caticlan to other nearby destinations such as Romblon, Batangas, and Mindoro have been suspended.
