5 dead in “Julian” wake

The total number of deaths due to Typhoon Julian has risen to five, according to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) on Friday.

In its latest situational report, the disaster agency confirmed that two fatalities occurred in Regions 1 and 2, while the other three are still undergoing validation.

In Pasuquin, Ilocos Norte, a senior citizen drowned, and in Santa Ana, Cagayan, a 25-year-old male died due to electrocution.

Eight individuals were reported injured, and one person is still missing, while nearly 69,000 families have been affected by the typhoon.

Most of the impacted families reside in 530 barangays across Region 1.

The government has standby funds amounting to 3 billion pesos for food and non-food items to assist the victims of the typhoon.
