Discovery Hospitality has appointed Jonathan Michael Bartlett as the new general manager of the acclaimed Discovery Samal resort, effective Jan. 17, 2026. Bartlett, a hotelier with a distinguished international career, takes the helm from Stanley Lau, who successfully guided the resort from its celebrated opening in July 2023.
Since opening, Discovery Samal has stood out as Mindanao’s first luxury convention resort, with six hectares of beachfront, luxury villas, curated dining, and the region’s largest ballroom for up to 1,000 guests.
Bartlett joins to build on this success, bringing experience from JW Marriott Savannah, Ace Hotel Palm Springs, and Mountain Modern Hotel. His expertise in 5-star service and operations supports Discovery Hospitality’s goal of delivering world-class standards with Filipino warmth.
