FDCP honored with Gawad Kaagapay award

The Film Development Council of the Philippines was honored as an Outstanding Stakeholder Award recipient by the Department of Education Schools Division Office of Quezon City during the 6th Gawad Kaagapay ceremony at the VS Hotel and Convention Center.

The citation cited the FDCP’s continued partnership with the Eugenio Lopez Jr. Center for Media Arts Senior High School, highlighting its support for film education, media literacy, and capacity building for students and teachers.

A key part of the collaboration is the FDCP’s Academic Film Society, which focuses on developing young Filipino filmmakers. Last year, the group led a two-day “Script to Screen” masterclass at the ELJ Theater, introducing students to scriptwriting and visual storytelling.

The Gawad Kaagapay is an annual recognition given to education partners that have consistently supported public schools and contributed to improving the quality of education in Quezon City.

FDCP technical consultant for Academic Linkages Seymour Sanchez received the award along with ELJ CMA Senior High School principal Romelita Tumaneng.

The award underscores FDCP’s role in education partnerships and its involvement in school-based programs. The FDCP and the Department of Education said they are exploring additional initiatives under the strengthened Senior High School curriculum, with a focus on supporting public schools and film education.
