Actor and entrepreneur David Licauco credits finding the right partner as key to his personal and professional growth.
“I’d say I’ve become better—less anxious,” the 31-year-old told Manila Standard Life. “Before, even a couple of hours without doing anything would make me anxious. It was like there was always a voice in my head telling me, ‘You need to be doing something. You need to be working.’”
Licauco added that he feels more patient and understanding around others, hoping he has become “nicer than before.” He plans to continue improving each year.
Earlier this month, Licauco introduced what he calls his “perfect partner”—his business partner at GSC Inc., a business processing and consulting firm.
“Yes, they are the perfect business partner since I’m a one-man team in handling my business. As it grows, I can’t handle everything myself,” he explained.
The actor-entrepreneur attributes his business success to taking calculated risks and seeking help when needed.
“When you’re starting a business, you just want to take risks. You need to jump to find out what’s out there. But it’s better if they are calculated risks,” he added.
He also recalled starting his business alone. “It really started from scratch. Maybe others thought I had a partner, but actually I didn’t. It was just me. You have to ask for help. Admittedly, at first I thought I could do it alone. But it turns out, I also needed help.”
Despite early setbacks, including being scammed, Licauco has learned to handle business challenges.
“I’m still trying to learn about business. Every day, you need to learn. This year, I actually want my business to be more corporate-like,” he noted.
