Heroes of the holidays come together for long-awaited reunion

McDonald’s Philippines brought families and friends together for its first “Grand Reunion at McDo” on Dec. 8 and 12 to celebrate the workers and unsung heroes who keep the holiday season running.

Delivery riders, often on the road for long hours during the Christmas rush, joined the event with their loved ones. Guests shared meals of Honey Butter Chicken McDo and White Choco Cereal McFlurry, accompanied by a “shake, tear, and sprinkle” activity with Garlic Parmesan and Snow Cheese powder.

Edwin, a delivery rider who attended with his four daughters, said the games and food made the day memorable. Kevin, who joined with friends, described the event as a chance to celebrate with loved ones, while Macoy, who came with his wife and child, highlighted the joy of winning prizes for his daughter.

McDonald’s also invited customers to share stories of long-awaited reunions through its Facebook page. Vanessa attended with her extended family, noting it had been rare for them to gather because of work. Clarissa joined with friends who had grown apart over the years, describing the event as an opportunity to reconnect.

Groups of up to 10 were accommodated in McDonald’s Party Rooms, guided by dedicated “Happiness Hosts” through games and toasts. The event highlighted Filipino values of togetherness, sharing, and gratitude.

Ada Lazaro, McDonald’s Philippines chief marketing officer, said the reunion was meant to give those separated by work, distance, or financial constraints a meaningful pause during the busy holiday season.
