Tuguegarao – The Department of Science and Technology Region 2 under Director Sancho A. Mabborang provided more than 5,000 pieces of face shields to the Provincial Government of Cagayan on during the regular flag raising ceremony here.
Mabborang said the distribution of the face shields was in support to the Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF) resolution citing the growing coronavirus threat, thus encouraging the populace to use face shields in all places.
These face shields were fabricated by the DOST-Metals Industry Research and Development Center (DOST-MIRDC) to support medical and non-medical front liners nationwide. Jessica Bacud
Apart from protecting the eyes, nose, and mouth that it gives, the face shields are also believed by the local researchers as a convenient protection from the transmission of the virus, Mabborang said.
Almost 5,700 face shields were turn over to the Provincial Health Office to be given to all the frontlines of the 28 municipalities and 12 district hospitals in the parovince.
