DOF reclassifies multiple cities, municipalities in Cavite province

THE Department of Finance (DOF) has reclassified Cavite’s smallest town of Noveleta, along with the municipalities of Amadeo, Gen. Emilio Aguinaldo, Magallanes, Maragondon, Mendez Nuñez, Ternate, and Bailen.

In the DOF issued Order 074 series of 2025. Tagaytay City was also upgraded from Class 2 to Class 1, Trece Martires City from Class 4 to Class 2, while Carmona was reverted from Class 1 to Class 2.

The DOF order came on the heels of the First General Income Reclassification of Provinces, Cities, and Municipalities provided by Republic Act No. 11964, also called the Automatic Income Classification of Local Government Units Act, enacted recently by President Marcos.

The income classification for the LGUs were based cities on income ranges as Class Average Annual Regular Income.

The DOF order takes effect on Jan. 1, 2025. 

Noveleta Mayor Dino Chua cited his town’s reclassification as “a very important success because it reflects our good management, transparency and effective service” felt by his constituents.

For his part, Maragondon Mayor Lawrence Arca the upgrade resulted from their concerted efforts to uplift quality of life in the town.
