Department of Agriculture (DA) Agriculture Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel Jr. leads the turnover of a rice processing system worth P67.63 million to the municipal government of Narra, Palawan that is expected to strengthen the province’s role not only as a major tourism destination but as an important center of food production. Tiu Laurel cited the strategic importance of investing in postharvest infrastructure in areas that are geographically isolated, but critical to agriculture, such as Palawan.
