Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) receive their balikbayan boxes after a long period of waiting. These balikbayan boxes are part of shipments that were abandoned and left undelivered by certain freight forwarders, and are now gradually being distributed to OFWs and their families. The Bureau of Customs (BOC) clarified that the prolonged delay in the delivery was caused by the failure of certain deconsolidators and freight forwarders to fulfill their obligations, despite having already collected payment from OFWs abroad.
