August Moonrise

A photographer based in Istanbul, Turkey captured a dazzling display of the August full moon, also known as Sturgeon moon, on Saturday evening, August 9.

The name was derived from a bony fish species by northeastern Native American tribes on the belief that large fish are easily caught this time of the year.
