Globe Telecom, Nokia expand partnership

Globe Telecom Inc. said Thursday it expanded its partnership with Nokia to accelerate the rollout of network application programming interfaces (APIs) across its partner and developer ecosystem to combat digital fraud.

The agreement provides Globe access to the full portfolio of APIs available through Nokia’s Network Exposure Platform (NEP). The cloud-native, programmable infrastructure streamlines service delivery and improves interoperability across different network environments.

The expansion follows a February 2025 announcement where Globe began testing the NEP to develop security applications aimed at reducing mobile banking fraud.

Several Philippine banks plan to implement Globe’s Number Verification API, prompting both companies to seek similar opportunities across other industries.

Nokia Network monetization platform head Shkumbin Hamiti said the open API solutions would allow Globe to rapidly develop new services and create revenue streams by securely exposing network capabilities to developers. Hamiti added that end users would see a richer ecosystem of digital services and improved connectivity.

Globe Business vice president and head KD Dizon said the company should provide network-powered technologies to enterprise customers to safeguard against accelerating cyberattacks.
