Megaworld Corp. said Wednesday it has formed a new office leasing group aimed at accelerating the growth of its portfolio in emerging cities across the country.
The new unit, Megaworld Global Offices, will focus on attracting more Fortune 500 multinational companies and startups. The move is intended to further cement Megaworld’s status as the Philippines’ largest office developer.
“We continue to see strong demand for office spaces in the country, even with the rapid emergence of artificial intelligence and other new technologies,” Megaworld president and chief executive Lourdes Gutierrez-Alfonso said in a statement to the stock exchange.
“These digital advancements continue to fuel substantial growth among many industries and create significant opportunities for finance, IT and healthcare professionals.”
Megaworld said the new unit will complement its existing Megaworld Premier Offices. It is expected to speed up growth in emerging areas such as the Ilocos Region, Pampanga, Cavite, Bacolod and Cagayan de Oro.
The initiative will help the company achieve its goal of reaching 2 million square meters of leasable office space, up from the current 1.6 million square meters.
Megaworld Global Offices will be led by Francisco Roxas, a real estate industry veteran with more than three decades of experience in property development and management. Roxas holds a Master of Business Administration from the Asian Institute of Management.
At present, Megaworld’s office division hosts 200 locators, including global firms such as Google, Coca-Cola, Wells Fargo, IBM and Accenture. These companies have established offices across major township developments, including Eastwood City, Uptown Bonifacio, McKinley Hill, McKinley West and Iloilo Business Park.
These locators employ nearly 200,000 people, largely from the business process outsourcing and corporate sectors.
