Baguio City remained a top holiday draw, recording 117,137 visitors from Dec. 15 to New Year’s Eve, supported by seasonal events and cooler weather.

In Bicol, Camarines Sur attracted 92,000 visitors, while Albay welcomed 45,000 tourists traveling along scenic routes with views of Mayon Volcano.

Northern Luzon destinations also saw steady arrivals as La Union recorded 47,338 visitors; Ilocos Sur, 32,232; and Nueva Vizcaya, 10,012, largely for nature-based and countryside travel.

Island destinations remained popular, with El Nido, Palawan hosting 40,000 tourists; Coron, 17,850; and Puerto Galera, 13,204.

In Mindanao, Sarangani province welcomed 26,191 visitors; Siargao Island, 32,742; Bukidnon, 9,488; and Camiguin Island, 6,558.

In Metro Manila, Intramuros drew large holiday crowds, particularly for Christmas masses at the Manila Cathedral and visits to its heritage sites and illuminated streets.

Department of Tourism secretary Christina Frasco said domestic travel continues to drive the industry, supporting local economies and communities.

Meanwhile, the DOT said it continued preparations for the Philippines’ hosting of the 45th ASEAN Tourism Forum (ATF) in 2026, even during the holiday period.
