The partnership aims to synchronize energy planning and regulatory frameworks to ensure the domestic power grid can support the rising demand for cleaner transport solutions.

Meralco executive vice president and chief operating officer Ronnie Aperocho led the utility’s executive team in hosting the EVAP delegation.

He was joined by Meralco senior vice president and chief revenue officer Ferdinand Geluz and first vice president and chief sustainability officer Raymond Ravelo, who also serves as Movem president and chief executive officer.

The discussions focused on an ecosystem-wide strategy involving manufacturers, fleet operators and government agencies.

Both parties agreed that the global shift toward cleaner mobility represents a critical opportunity for the Philippines to build a competitive and sustainable transport landscape.

EVAP president Edmund Araga led the association’s representatives, supported by EVAP chairmen Ferdi Raquelsantos and Rommel Juan.

The group cited the importance of technical cooperation and public education to elevate national readiness for electrification.

The partnership will focus on organizing industry summits and technical forums to address infrastructure gaps.

EVAP leaders lauded Meralco for its electrification efforts through Movem, a subsidiary dedicated to deploying charging stations and promoting clean energy.

Meralco first vice president and head of customer retail services Charina Padua and vice president and head of commercial strategy management and energy solutions Ralph Menchavez also participated in the dialogue.

The two organizations concluded the meeting by pledging to implement impactful programs to modernize the Philippine transport sector.

The partnership seeks to create a more resilient and future-ready energy grid for electric mobility.
