Vehicle sales dropped in first nine months

Vehicle sales in the Philippines saw a 0.3-percent decline in the first nine months of 2025 to 343,410 units from 344,307 sold in the same period last year, according to a report from the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines, Inc. (CAMPI) and the Truck Manufacturers Association (TMA).

The nine-month performance was largely supported by the commercial vehicle (CV) segment, which rose 8.2 percent year-on-year to 274,104 units, accounting for nearly 80 percent of total sales. Within this segment, light commercial vehicles were the primary driver, increasing 9.7 percent to 203,349 units from last year.

Passenger car (PC) sales experienced a 23.6-percent fall to 69,306 units from 90,765 sold in the same period in 2024, reflecting weaker consumer demand.

CAMPI president Rommel Gutierrez said the September results, which saw a modest 5.1-percent month-on-month increase with 38,029 units sold compared to 36,174 units in August, underscore market resilience amid tight consumer spending and higher vehicle prices.

“The September results reflect the industry’s adaptability and commitment to innovation. As we continue to embrace electrification and expand commercial mobility solutions, we remain optimistic about closing the year on a high note,” said Gutierrez.
