NAIA handled record 52m passengers in 2025

The Ninoy Aquino International Airport recorded its highest annual traffic in history with 52.02 million passengers in 2025, led by a surge in travel demand and modernized terminal operations, the New NAIA Infra Corp. (NNIC) said Friday.

The private operator of the Philippines’ primary gateway reported that December became the busiest month on record for the facility, handling 4.86 million travelers.

International passengers accounted for 2.367 million of the monthly total, while domestic travelers reached 2.495 million, marking the second-highest domestic volume ever recorded.

These figures encompass all airport activity, including outbound and returning Filipino travelers, business passengers and connecting traffic.

NNIC officials said operations remained stable throughout the year despite the record-breaking volumes, citing various infrastructure upgrades and improved coordination with stakeholders.

Operational enhancements included the installation of new biometric immigration e-Gates funded by NNIC, alongside upgrades to passenger processing systems and terminal facilities. The private firm worked with airlines and government agencies to streamline travel during peak periods.

Managing higher passenger volumes requires both infrastructure and close coordination, NNIC said in a statement.

The operator said the focus remained on improving flow, reducing bottlenecks and ensuring the airport could handle peak demand effectively.

Throughout 2025, the company implemented efficiency and safety initiatives to improve the overall passenger experience.

Under the public-private partnership, NNIC manages the operations, maintenance and modernization of the hub, while the Philippine government retains ownership of the asset.
