ABMAP champions transport modernization

The Automotive Body Manufacturers Association of the Philippines (ABMAP) said it is actively advocating for the full implementation of the Public Utility Vehicle Modernization Program (PTMP) as a crucial step toward achieving the goals of the Clean Air Act (RA 8749).

ABMAP said it reinforces its commitment to reducing air pollution and improving urban mobility in the country by pushing for the adoption of modern, eco-friendly public transport vehicles,

“The Clean Air Act mandates the reduction of harmful emissions, and modernizing our public transport system is one of the most effective ways to comply with this law,” said Edgar Manuel, executive director of ABMAP.

“Outdated and inefficient vehicles contribute significantly to air pollution. Through the PTMP, we have the opportunity to replace them with cleaner, safer, and more efficient modern PUVs,” he said.

ABMAP, which represents local body manufacturers and transport stakeholders, underscores the importance of accelerating the transition to modern PUVs that meet Euro 5 or electric vehicle (EV) standards. These vehicles are designed to be more fuel-efficient, reduce carbon emissions, and improve passenger comfort and safety.
