The Department of Trade and Industry’s Construction Industry Authority of the Philippines (CIAP) signed a memorandum of agreement (MOA) with the National Security Council (NSC) on Feb. 21, 2025 to establish a comprehensive approach to assessing national security risks in construction projects.
The Philippine Contractors Accreditation Board (DTI-CIAP-PCAB) witnessed the agreement signing, which aims to strengthen the regulatory framework for construction projects nationwide.
DTI Secretary Ma. Cristina Roque reiterated the department’s commitment to fostering innovation, integrity, and inclusivity across the country’s industries.
“By working together, we ensure that infrastructure development not only drives economic progress but also prioritizes the safety and well-being of every Filipino. This initiative, in line with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s Bagong Pilipinas agenda, reflects our shared vision for a secure, modern, and thriving nation,” she said.
The DTI and NSC aim to create a unified system to identify and address national security threats in construction projects, ensuring thorough inspections to protect the country’s security, NSC director Eduardo Año said.
