NLEX Corp. said Monday it budgeted P15 billion for 2024 capital expenditures (capex) next year to
expand existing tollway projects.
NLEX president and general manager J Luigi Bautista said the company would use next year’s capex to
fund the construction of the Candaba 3rd Viaduct and the road widening in San Fernando, Pampanga.
The new 5-kilometer Candaba 3rd Viaduct between Pampanga and Bulacan provinces is now 30-percent
complete.
Targeted for completion by November 2024, the P7.89-billion project entails the construction of a new
bridge in the middle of the two existing viaducts.
Once completed, this will increase road capacity of the entire Candaba Viaduct from three lanes without
shoulder to three lanes with inner and outer shoulders in each direction. These lanes and shoulders will
be wide, hence, boosting the safety and convenience of those traversing the viaduct.
Bautista also said that the construction of the P5.5 bn road widening in San Fernando is expected to start
by the first quarter of next year.
“We call it NLEx Segment 3 widening. It is going to be from San Fernando all the way to SCTEx. We are
going to add one line in each direction,” he said.
NLEX earlier posted a net income of P7.07 billion from January to September, higher than P5.72 billion in
the same period last year.
Revenues amounted to P15.67 billion, up 20 percent from P13.1 bn in the same period last year.
NLEX attributed the increase in revenues to higher traffic volume and the impact of NLEX toll rate
adjustments implemented in June 2023.
