Oishi marks a decade of China education project

Oishi (China) Ltd. executives and a delegation of 54 representatives from the Philippine Xavier School visited De Zhou in Shandong Province on Dec. 1 to celebrate the 10th anniversary of a major charitable education initiative.

The event commemorated a decade of the Oishi-De Zhou Fifth High School Charitable Donation for Education Project. During the ceremony, Oishi Group awarded a total of 60,000 Chinese yuan to 30 exemplary students from De Zhou Fifth High School in recognition of their academic performance and character.

Oishi China Co. Ltd. chairman Larry Chan established the scholarship project in 2017. Since its inception, the program has distributed 456,000 Chinese yuan to 223 outstanding students. While the awards were presented in yuan, the equivalent value in Philippine currency represents about P360,000 for this year’s grant and more than P2.7 million in total historical funding.

Beyond financial support, the visit served as a platform for international academic cooperation. De Zhou Fifth High School and the Philippine Xavier School signed a formal agreement to foster friendship and cooperation.

The two institutions committed to organizing joint cultural and sports activities to strengthen mutual understanding between students from China and the Philippines.

Company officials said the milestone underscores the dedication of Oishi Group to supporting global education and fostering international partnerships. The program aims to celebrate the accomplishments of young scholars while promoting long-term cultural exchange.
