Chinese Ambassador to the Philippines Jing Quan met with key representatives from the Filipino Chinese business and community sectors on December 12 to discuss strengthening bilateral relations, emphasizing that disagreements should not dominate the future of the neighboring nations.
Jing held separate meetings with the Federation of Filipino Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry Inc (FFCCCII) and the Federation of Filipino Chinese Associations of the Philippines Foundation (FFCAP) where he acknowledged their significant long-term contributions to promoting the Philippines-China relationship.
Attending the meetings were FFCCCII representative Victor Lim and FFCAP representative Zhao Qi Ping.
Jing said the Philippines and China are “close neighbors, and a close neighbor is better than a distant relative.”
He said the Chinese Embassy in the Philippines is prepared to sincerely cooperate with the Filipino Chinese community to improve the relationship, committing to one practical initiative at a time. He also reaffirmed the embassy’s dedication to serving the needs of Overseas Chinese living in the Philippines.
Recalling his early career, Jing mentioned that when he first joined the Overseas Chinese Affairs service, he was filled with passion for the work and understood its importance.
The representatives from FFCCCII and FFCAP warmly welcomed the new ambassador to his new role, expressing gratitude for the trust and support from the Chinese Embassy.
They pledged to unite the power of the Chinese diaspora and closely cooperate with the embassy to foster friendship and stabilize the Philippines-China relationship.
