Alvin Abundo drained a triple with 36 seconds left to give the Knights the crucial 82-78 cushion en route to their fourth win in five matches.
The victory tied San Juan at the helm with AICC Manila and Davao Occidental Tigers.
Abundo finished with 10 points, four rebounds, and three assists while Jhonard Clarito paced the Knights with a double-double performance of 22 points and 12 boards.
Orlan Omar and Adrian Nocum chipped in 14 and 10 points.
FSD Makati-Army skidded to 1-4 despite Jess Mar Villahermosa scoring 20 points and five rebounds.
Also sharing the day’s spotlight were Medical Depot and Burlington EDG Sports, who toppled their rivals to improve to identical 3-2 marks.
Medical Depot outplayed Mtrans Buracai de Laiya-Batangas City in overtime, 99-93, while Burlington EDG Sports crushed the Muntinlupa Defenders, 103-67.
Trailing 93-92 with 1:47 left in the extra period, Christian Moralde shot a jumper and Kevin Villafranca rifled a triple to gain the 96-92 upperhand for good.
Patrick Cabahug powered Medical Depot with 31 points and 11 rebounds, while Villafranca and Egie Mojica added 15 and 12 points.
