Vice President Leni Robredo will soon decide if she will run for president or not in the 2022 elections.
“VP Leni is thanking all those who have expressed their trust and support. To listen to the calls is part of her decision-making process,” Robredo’s spokesperson Barry Gutierrez said.
“We are nearing the time when she said she will announce her decision,” he said.
Earlier, Robredo said she was open to run as president in 2022, and that she would decide by September or not later than Oct. 8, the last day of the filing of the certificate of candidacy.
Volunteers from over 200 groups with more than 500,000 members came forward during a recent online gathering dubbed “Kay Robredo Taumbayan ang Panalo: The People’s Convention” and paid tribute to the Vice President’s leadership.
More than 200 volunteer groups representing more than 500,000 members on Monday held an online gathering to pay tribute to the leadership and dependable service of Vice President Leni Robredo, most especially during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Dubbed as “Kay Robredo, Taumbayan ang Panalo: The People’s Convention”, the online event was streamed via Team Leni Robredo Facebook page where several representatives and groups expressed full support for VP Robredo’s endeavors and programs for the welfare of the Filipino people.
Despite the meager budget of the Office of the Vice President, Robredo has managed to find ways to help provide the needs of frontline health workers and Filipinos mostly affected by the pandemic.
Robredo also tapped the help of the private sector and organizations to extend assistance to poor communities and families heavily affected by the pandemic.
Highlight of the online event was the reading of the Manifesto of Support where they expressed their full support if VP Robredo decides to run for president in 2022.
The groups said only Robredo can lift the country from the effects of the pandemic, give a better life to the poor, remove the country from poverty and bring back the dignity of the Filipino people.
They also promised to convince other people to support their bid to bring Robredo to Malacanang in 2022.
