Davao’s bus system seen completed by 2023

The Department of Transportation said Friday it expects the P18.66-billion Davao Public Transport Modernization Project to be completed by the third quarter of 2023.

It said DPTMP aims to provide an efficient and affordable mode of transport for Davaoeños through the delivery of a modern high priority bus system.

The project funded by official development assistance loans includes three components: public transport system improvement, institutional capacity strengthening and social development program.

“This project aims to provide the Davaoeñeos a modern and reliable high priority bus system, as well as deliver a much-improved public transport infrastructure and services,” Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade said.

With the HPBS, interconnected bus services will be prioritized along the 626-kilometer road network. It encompasses the development of five depots, three terminals, a driving school, along with the installation of 1,075 bus stops and other pedestrian improvements.
