Camp Vicente Lim, Laguna —Calabarzon Police Regional Director Brigadier General Eliseo Cruz has applauded the Laguna Police Provincial Director Serafin F. Petalio II for his show of leadership in participating in a clean-up exercise in Laguna police stations.
Cruz said when the chiefs lead an intensified cleanliness policy, the police focus on the maintenance of cleanliness in police stations amid the implementation of reforms to stop the culture of wrongdoings among policemen.
Making the PNP recruitment foolproof is a QR code system to avoid “bata-bata” or “padrino” system, which leads to heightened community-focused peace and order operations, Cruz told Manila Standard.
He said the clean-up was a regular exercise by the Region IV-A police and forms part of the activities as PNP Chief General Guillermo Eleazar, who assumed office on May 7, launched an “intensified cleanliness policy” and henceforth the chiefs of police in the entire country have taken upon themselves to lead and support the effort.
“Cleanliness is next to godliness. Kung sa bukana pa lang ng police station ay makikita na ang nagkalat na upos ng sigarilyo at basurang nagkalat, at kung sa bukana pa lang ay mapanghi na ang simoy ng hangin, mahihirapan tayong makuha ang respeto at tiwala ng ating mga kababayan na ating pinagsisilbihan,” Cruz said.
Petalio said the cleanup drive is a continuous activity in all of Laguna’s police offices and stations.
He also vowed to immediately respond to street crimes, illegal drugs, communist insurgency and terrorism, cybercrime, and safety amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
“We live in the most beautiful part of the world, and it should be a place where everyone is safe and feels safe. Whether it is violence against women and girls, road safety or anti-social behavior; drug dealing or burglary; fire safety, illegal hunting, or theft of machinery, all these issues and many more will be addressed within my power,” Petalio said.
“I will be a voice for the community, ensure police are supported but challenged to be the best they can, and stand up for where we live and the brave police officers and staff who work so hard to protect us every day,” the Laguna provincial chief told the Standard.
